Police in Lakshmipur have arrested two individuals in connection with the possession of fake ballot papers and forged Election Commission stamps. According to official sources, one suspect was found carrying counterfeit ballot papers, while the other was in possession of forged election-related stamps.
Following the arrests, leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), including senior representatives, claimed that the detained individuals were members of Jamaat-e-Islami. However, local police authorities rejected this claim, stating that preliminary investigations indicate the suspects are not affiliated with any political party participating in the election process.
According to police the arrested persons were caught while they were looking for highest bidders for the papers and stamps, officials further stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the motives behind the possession of the counterfeit materials and to identify any possible networks or individuals linked to the incident. Authorities have assured that further details will be shared as the inquiry progresses.
