Journal of Misinformation and Society (JMS)

The Journal of Misinformation and Society (JMS) is a peer-reviewed, annually published academic journal dedicated to advancing research and scholarship on the social, political, and cultural dimensions of misinformation and disinformation. As a multidisciplinary platform, JMS brings together perspectives from communication, sociology, political science, psychology, information studies, journalism, and related fields to foster a deeper understanding of how false and misleading information shapes societies in the digital age.

JMS welcomes original research articles, theoretical contributions, case studies, policy analyses, and critical reviews that explore topics such as:

  • The production, circulation, and consumption of misinformation and disinformation.
  • Impacts of false information on public trust, democracy, health, security, and governance.
  • Technological, economic, and cultural factors driving the spread of misinformation.
  • Interventions, media literacy strategies, and policy responses to combat information disorder.

By serving as a forum for rigorous inquiry and critical debate, JMS seeks to build knowledge that informs both academic scholarship and practical solutions. With an international scope, the journal encourages submissions from scholars, practitioners, and policymakers worldwide.
